Portugal Gambling License
888 has been awarded an online casino licence by Portuguese regulator Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) as the operator further expands its regulated footprint.
The new licence will enable 888 to offer online slots, table games and a range of poker variants via its 888.pt site.

Two years after the law came into force, Turismo de Portugal, which is responsible for this activity, had received 19 applications and attributed six licences.
The operator plans to use its poker licence to allow Portuguese players to play with Spanish counterparts, through the liquidity sharing agreement linking the markets, along with France – where 888 is no longer active – and Italy, which is yet to join the cross-border network. This will mark the first time 888 has pooled liquidity between European markets.

The Portuguese licence comes after 888 was last month also granted approval to offer its online gambling services in the newly regulated Swedish market, which launched on January 1.
It is also the 16th licence to be issued by SRIJ since the country's regulated igaming market opened for business in June 2015.

In addition to Portugal and Sweden, 888 holds licences in the UK, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Ireland and Romania, as well as Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware in the US.
Portugal has announced the issuance of its eighth online gambling license, expanding the country’s regulated iGaming environment. Gambling regulator Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos has granted to Estoril Sol the permission to offer online sports betting services. The license represents the eighth issued by the regulatory body since Portugal ratified legislation early last year legalising and regulating online gambling and sportsbetting.However, it is the second license for Estoril Sol which had already been operating online casino services. The company obtained the first online gambling license back in May 2016.
The firm has announced that it will use Belgian platform Gaming1 to offer a range of sportsbetting markets at its website Esconline.pt alongside the developer’s innovative Opti-Odds feature to boost the odds on any multiple bet slips.
In an official statement, Rui Magalhaes, Chief Executive Officer for the Estoril Sol digital subsidiary said: “Since moving online, we’ve enjoyed great success and the next logical step for us was to bolster our offering with sportsbetting.
